Mentoring Across Borders partner Önkéntes Központ Alapítvány has hosted 3 sessions for their mentors, in Hungarian in order to achieve the highest accessibility. The first session took place online on 15 December 2023, the second and third session took place in person on 23 February 2024 and 22 May 2024, including a total of 37 participants. Key insights  were gathered during the sessions on various aspects concerning the Mentoring Across Borders programme:

  • Interest and Engagement: All participants expressed a strong interest in the training content and were eager to engage in the mentoring program. They highly appreciated the attitude clarifying discussion.
  • Language Barrier: A significant concern raised was the inability to register on the platform when it was only available in English. Participants emphasized the need for a Hungarian language option to facilitate easier access and understanding.
  • Platform Usability: Many participants found the platform too complex and not user-friendly. They indicated that the platform’s design and functionality need improvement to be more intuitive and accessible for users.
  • Preference for In-Person Meetings: There was an eagerness among participants to meet their mentees in person. They believe that face-to-face interactions are crucial for effective mentoring.
  • Perceived Importance of Mentoring: Participants highlighted the importance of mentoring, noting that it provides them with a sense of purpose and usefulness. They are enthusiastic about connecting with young people and contributing to their development.
  • Intercultural Training Component: The intercultural part of the training was highly appreciated and sparked a discussion on sensitizing each other through workplace mentoring.
  • Interactive Exercises: Interactive exercises, such as the demo first interview, were the most liked components of the training, providing practical experience and engagement.
