The final conference of Mentoring Across Borders (MAB) took place on 09 December 2024 in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels, Belgium. The conference gathered MAB partners and guests to share and celebrate the closing of the MAB project.

The conference was kicked-off with a key-note speech by Professor Andreas Kruse, EESC Member, who shared his invaluable experiences and knowledge on mentoring in Europe. He highlighted that the EESC has repeatedly made suggestions that when designing policies for older people they should be guided by intergenerational solidarity and how individual generations can continue to support each other – both in the worlds of work and civil society.

Doris Bandín Abad, President of the Confederation of European Senior Expert Services (CESES), then provided introductory remarks on CESES and MAB, followed by Joachim Fronia, Director at CESES, who gave some background on the programmes on which MAB has been built.

Connor Audsley, Project Manager at CESES, then shared the project’s results and gave recognition to the impact of MAB, and the lessons to be learnt for future actions, before Ismael Paez Civico, Executive Director at CESES, discussed the sustainability of MAB.

The results were followed by breakout sessions to further explore how the impact of MAB could be expanded, adapted, or upscaled in the future, taking into account lessons and best practice arising from the project and subsequent discussion.

The conference was concluded by Jacques Van Egten, Vice president and Board Member of CESES, emphasising the achievements of the MAB project and its partners.
